[poem] Sea Glass

Based off of a conversation with my best friend, Esther Suson.  Happy World Poetry Day, everyone!

She dances even though,
like the sea-witch said,
each step feels
like the blade
of a knife
of his smile in
his chiseled chin,
and her soles are bleeding
but she spins for him
at the wedding feast,
with his bride by his side,
he forgets the girl
with her seafoam step
onto the ledge and sink,
into the surf
that once embraced her.
